KAYSIA M. EARLEY, ESQ. | Founding Attorney
As a Christian attorney whose moral compass is grounded in faith and fellowship, Kaysia (pronounced Kay-see-ah) M. Earley is known for achieving exceptional results, and has gained the recognition and well-deserved reputation as a fierce litigator who fights for her clients’ fundamental rights. Founding attorney for Earley Law Firm, PLLC, she focuses on both criminal and civil litigation and is a strong advocate for her clients without trading in her Christian values.
Kaysia has practiced both as a government attorney and in the private sector. As a former Assistant Public Defender, Kaysia consistently delivered the best results for her clients throughout every stage of her representation: from investigations, to clerk's magistrate hearings, to trials, and probation hearings.
She effectively managed a caseload of 180–220 clients, through all phases of the judicial process. She has since served as first chair in over 80 jury and non-jury trials, ranging from first-degree felonies to misdemeanors, and won dismissals in over 220 other cases. She has also practiced in the juvenile division, where she developed a deep understanding of the practice of juvenile law.
During law school, Kaysia clerked for the Honorable Judge Andrew Siegel, of the 17th Judicial Circuit. Prior to attending law school, Kaysia gained extensive experience working as a paralegal specialist with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and various practice areas including, Intellectual Property, White Collar, Tax, Securities, and Patent Prosecution. Additionally, her experience as a congressional intern on Capitol Hill provided valuable insight in Politics and Law & Public Policy.
Kaysia was born in Bronx, New York and raised in Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Howard University, Washington, DC, and Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, Miami, FL. She is a member of the Broward County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She is also an active lecturer at her church, local homeless shelters, detention centers, and universities, on topics relating to criminal law, trial practice, and oral presentation skills. She is a loving wife to her husband of 14 years, and the proud mother of four beautiful children.

What type of internships are offered?
Earley Law Firm offers internships and externships to local students in law school, college, paralegal studies, and high school. These internships (office environment/ courtroom experience) and externships (qualify for academic credit) are non-paying but may be for academic credit and/or student service hours. Our internships are flexible – and include full-time and part-time summer internships (either half-days or part of a week) as well as part-time internships during the school year. Scheduling is flexible and because the internship is unpaid, we are more than happy to have you structure your internship around any other paying employment or school classes. Our goal is to educate and inform you about the private practice of law for as much time as you would like to be so educated and informed.

What can I expect during my internship?
We try to expose you to court, client meetings, depositions, mediations & trials (if we have any going on), drafting pleadings, research memos, interviewing witnesses, investigating cases, various marketing meetings and tasks and just as much of the private practice as possible! The majority of the internship is observational and interactive. The purpose of the internship is to educate you and broaden your view of the private practice of law in a small law firm. We try to give you exposure to whatever areas of the law that may be of interest to you –just let us know! If you want to learn a little bit of every area of the law in which we practice – we can do that as well.
Every week, Earley Law Firm’s paralegal sends out a list to all interns of the upcoming week’s activities (depositions, court hearings, client meetings, attorney phone conferences, seminars, board meetings, etc.) that are anticipated and can be attended in the following week. Kaysia Earley will closely supervise assignments. We typically have a list of available assignments and you can choose which ones you would like to work on. Occasionally, upon your request, remote tasks can be assigned that can be done without coming to the office if you would like.
Dress is business casual. Suits are not required (unless attending court). You can bring your lunch – we have a kitchen, microwave, etc. Parking is free, and we are conveniently located less than five minutes from Broward Mall.
We do ask that you give us a general idea of your expected intern schedule so we know when to expect you and when to look for you to attend scheduled activities. If you are sick or have other appointments or vacation plans, we simply ask that you give us as much notice as possible.
Do you offer paid employment after the internship?
Unfortunately, at this time, given our small size and limited hiring needs, except in very rare situations, we are not able to offer employment following the internship. We do, however, provide letters of recommendation (so long as the intern’s performance supports such a letter) and try to provide hiring advice and useful contact information.
